University of Novi Sad, Serbia, together with partners within the MAIN Tempus project (Contract no. 544278-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-RS-TEMPUS-JPCR) calls young researchers and experienced experts to participate in the 1st Doctoral Students Conference on Innovation Management.

Are you looking for:

Join, interact, share and learn from the group of experts at the DSCIM in Novi Sad, Serbia, on October 3-6, 2017. You will have the opportunity to meet dozens of young and experienced researchers, with the right milieu to test your research plan, to promote your research results, or to share your experience in managing innovation.

During this four day event we will bring together doctoral students, researchers, policymakers, and business innovation or entrepreneurship managers and offer access to their presentations, a variety of workshops and unlock numerous networking opportunities. Participants will also benefit from workshop that will prepare them to successfully present their story to their audience.

Since the DSCIM is supported by the MAIN project, there is no registration fee!


Participants are expected to submit their short papers (2,000 to 4,000 words long) or their case studies and to prepare a presentation. The best extended abstracts will be invited to develop a full paper and publish in the conference’s partner journal: International Journal of Industrial Engineering and Management, indexed in SCOPUS.

1.    Call for scientific presentations: present your scientific research results as an academic or a PhD student in the last stages of your studies
2.    Call for researchers in early stages of their work: present your research plan, design, methods and concept, in order to get valuable feedback
3.    Good practice proposals: present and discuss your good practice case study
4.    Poster proposals: present your scientific or practitioners research results in a poster session at the conference, printed by the conference organizers

03-10-2017 Tuesday

Evening: Informal welcoming cocktail and get-together

04-10-2017 Wednesday 

Morning: Joint opening ceremony with the IS conference: official representatives and keynote speakers; DSCIM opening with official representatives, project coordinator and conference chair

Afternoon: Two (parallel or serial) sessions with student participation. Researcher delivers an introduction (30 minutes), after which the students present their work:

  • Introduction: Carsten Dreher, PhD - Demand, adoption and modification needs for Innovation Management in transition economies – Open questions, approaches and research agenda
  • Researcher Jelena Borocki, PhD: This session will refer to different aspects (factors and/or indicators) in process of developing innovative company. It is known that innovation management is a process that encompasses the whole range of decisions, activities and measures in order to facilitate the transfer of an idea into the business value. That is the main reason why this session will be focused on different approaches how organizations fulfill their goals and transform their resources into innovative product/service; monitor and access innovative activities; apply different methodologies in order to access and improve innovative capabilities, etc. It cannot be forgotten the role of entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial orientation of company in order to be innovative.
  • Researcher Iztok Palčič, PhD: This session deals with Value management and innovation, especially in the field of new product and process development in manufacturing environment. We will present the concept of value creation and tools and methods of functional analysis and value engineering. The part of the session is introduction of a unique method to foster creativity.

Evening: Dinner and networking

05-10-2017 Thursday

Morning: Two (parallel or serial) sessions with student participation. Researcher delivers an introduction (30 minutes), after which the students present their work. LEGO serious play workshop on innovation:

  • Researcher Amila Pilav-Velić, PhD: This session aims to indicate importance of Innovation policy for fostering innovation and economic growth. Policy design including its implementation through concrete instruments and mechanisms will be analyzed especially in the transitional context. The special emphasis will be placed on challenges in identification of proper policy options. Moreover, collaboration and Open Innovation practices as a tool for spurring innovation will be discussed.
  • Researcher Petar Vrgović, PhD: This session will explore human factors related to innovation processes, on individual and organizational level. Incentives for engagement in innovative projects are to be discussed, as well as forming a creative atmosphere in a company. Divergent processes are to be analyzed with aim to understand their nature and touch-points where managerial processes can influence them, both within the company and with external innovation partners. Tools related to communication and idea management will be discussed.

Afternoon: Interactive session with selected companies and their challenges: mixed panel of researchers and practitioners; "turned tables": students share their comments and insights

Evening: Dinner and networking

06-10-2017 Friday

Morning: Closing ceremony of the conference and of the MAIN project, presentation of project results. 

Afternoon: Potential city tour or a tourist visit to nearby monasteries and wineries

- July 28th (extended deadline) 2017 Submission deadline for submission of short papers
- August 12th, 2017 Notification of acceptance to successful authors and reviewer feedback
- September 15th, 2017 Final version of short papers, instructions for preparing the presentation and Registration deadline (free, but mandatory)
- October 3rd-6th, 2017 Conference

How to use

Use a shortcode to display your widget anywhere on your website

Start in the editor

Start in the editor

To get started, click on the Widgetkit button in your CMS edit view. You will be directed to an overview of already existing widgets, hit the New button. Now choose the widget you would like to render, for example Grid and the content type. Afterwards hit Create to proceed to the next step.

To create your content, you can add single content items by using Add Item. Alternatively you can use Add Media to select multiple items at once through the media library or manager of your CMS. Enter a name for your widget and go to the Settings tab to configure your widget, then hit Save.

After saving, hit the Cancel button to get back to the widget overview. Click on your newly created widget and a shortcode containing the widget's ID and name will be inserted in the editor. To edit the widget, click inside the shortcode and hit the Widgetkit button again.
